The Independently owned Loch Lomond Company currently own this large distillery which produces around 2,500,000 litres of whisky per year. There are 8 single malts currently produced from this distillery Loch Lomond, Old Rusdhu, Inchmurrin and Croftengea are the main bottling labels you would tend to discover. The isle of Inchmurrin is the largest of the Loch Lomond’s islands and was once home to the chapel built by Christian monks in the 7th century. Known as the ‘Grassy Isle’ it is soft, rounded and wonderfully wooded – attributes sought after in many a malt.
Liquid Treasures Single Malt Whisky is an independent bottling range of eSpirits Whisky in Germany. The company was founded over 10 yers ago and has already released a quite impressive selection of interesting and delicious whiskies. The autumn 2021 collection includes 8 single malt whiskies from all over Scotland, aptly titled the ‘Living World’ due to the stunning flora and fauna artwork on the bottles.
Released as a member of ‘Living World’ series which features amphibians, insects and animals on label. This single malt whisky was created at the Loch Lomond Distillery was distilled in 1997 and laid to mature in an ex Bourbon Barrel for 23 years before being bottle in 2020 at natural cask strength of 48.5% abv. Only very few bottles were made available.
Our Tasting Notes
Nose: A simply superb nose of passionfruit, ripe oranges, papaya, freshly cut grass and subtle smoke.
Palate: Fresh and vibrant on the tongue, floral notes of lilac, tropical fruits of coconut and mango, creamy with plums and grapefruit.
Finish: Fresh and long with elderflower, chestnut and honey sweetness.
